Known as one of the top beaches in the world Flamenco Beach on Culebra is one of Puerto Rico’s jewels. The 1.5 mile long crescent beach is located on the north side of Culebra that is a must for sun worshippers. Located in a protected cove, the waters are calm, making this an excellent spot for snorkeling.
Flamenco Beach is another Blue Flag beach and you will find bathrooms, a few changing rooms, and showers available (after 3:30pm), as well as picnic tables and a few food stands. You can also rent the typical beach gear such as; chairs, umbrellas, tents and other camping gear
If you prefer to camp while on Culebra, Flamenco Beach has a campground, but you will need to obtain a camping permit before setting up your tent.
One of the things that might surprise you about this beautiful beach, is the remains of a couple of old US Army tanks, that were left over from military practice (I guess there can’t be many beaches that can say the same).
If you are just on Culebra for the day, you can get to Flamenco beach by taxi for around $3 per person, each way. There are usually lots of taxis waiting at the ferry dock and will pick you up at the beach to get you back to the ferry. If you plan on spending more time on Culebra, consider renting a four-wheeled drive vehicle for your stay.
Note: Snorkel gear can be rented at the Culebra Dive Shop close to the ferry dock.
