2009 Puerto Rico Rum Festival
Most countries have beer festivals, here in Puerto Rico we have a rum festival. The 2009 Puerto Rico International Rum Festival will take place along the Paseo La Princesa in Old San Juan, on Memorial Day Weekend May 23-24.

The aim of the festival is to showcase the varieties of rum from the Caribbean, Central and South America. Being Puerto Rico the festival will also include great food and great music.

Taking part in the festival are rums from:
Puerto Rico
St Croix
Dominican Republic
Trinidad & Tobago
Jamaica
Turks & Caicos
Barbados
Guatemala
Brazil

The actual rum contest takes place on Saturday May 23 at Casa Herencia in Old San Juan where a panel of judges will sample the rums. and select the winners. The rum festival takes place on Sunday May 24, along the Paseo La Princesa.

On Sunday May 24 the festival will be open from 12pm – 5pm with 2 ticket options:
Sampling Cover Charge – $10.00 Plus Tax, includes 2 Rum Samples & 1 Typical Food Sample Ticket
Premium Cover Charge – $30.00 Plus Tax, includes 14 Rum Sample Tickets & 6 Typical Food Sample Tickets

The festival continues with an evening event from 7pm – 11pm. There is a single cover charge for the evening event of $45, Plus Tax. This tickets allows you UNLIMITED rum and food samples.

Note: the evening event will benefit SAPIENTIS, which is a non-profit organization set up to help improve the quality of Puerto Rico’s public education system
