If you are here in Puerto Rico this weekend (Dec 2) or next weekend (Dec 9) then why not check out the Bacardi Artisan Fair (Feria Bacardi 2007) which will take place in the grounds of the Bacardi factory in Catano.
The Bacardi Artisan Fair is an annual event that takes place on the first two Sundays in December. Each day there will be approximately 250 local artisans displaying their works in 3 large tents in the grounds of the factory. This year the fair is going to recognize the Barranquitas artisan Luis Colon Ortiz, who makes musical instruments, and Adjuntas-born Edwin Maldonado Irizarry, who works the potter’s wheel.
There will also be music from local artists and the current line-up is:
Sunday \ December 2
Pleneros – Truco & Zaperoko
Michael Stuart
Fanny Lu
Kany GarcÃa
Manny Manuel
Sunday / December 9
Plena Libre
Jerry Rivera
Plenéalo
Ivan, VÃctor y Juan (Objetivo Fama)
Fonseca
The event is free, but from what I can gather this year they are requiring that people obtain tickets in order to enter the fair (this is the first time that this has been done).
