What To See & Do

Los Morrillos Lighthouse
The Los Morrillos Lighthouse perched on top of the limestone cliffs of Cabo Rojo was built around 1882 by the Spanish. Built in the neoclassic style and similar to other lighthouse around the island, the views from the cliff tops are simply stunning. There are also several trails to explore around the lighthouse.

Beaches
Playuela – a beautiful coved beach, with clear blue waters that can be seen and reached by walking trail from Los Morrillos Lighthouse. This is a large crescent shaped beach that has calm waters and amazing views.

Playa Buye – with its long stretch of white sand and blue waters, Playa Buye is a picturesque beach that is great for families. There is plenty of shade from the palm trees and a roped off swimming section where families can enjoy the calm blue waters.

Combate Beach – is another popular spot in Cabo Rojo. The beach is long and thin and again has a roped off area for swimming.

Balneario Boquerón – This is a government run beach with paid parking, changing rooms and showers, play area and food for purchase. Boquerón is another long beach with picnic tables, plenty of shade, roped off swimming area and lifeguards

Cabo Rojo National Wildlife Refuge & Salt Flats
The Cabo Rojo National Wildlife Refuge encompasses some 1800 acres with walking and bike trails There is an Interpretive Center where you can learn more about the area and the various ecosystems that can be found in the refuge and a small observation tower.

The locals have been producing salt since the early 1500’s. The salt pits are flooded with seawater and left to evaporate leaving salt crystals at the bottom of the pits that are then scraped away. The area is part of the Cabo Rojo National Wildlife Refuge

Cabo Rojo Breweries
Boquerón Brewing Company – The brewery is typically not open for tours but they do occasionally have Open Weekends which they announce on their Facebook page. Currently they are only producing draft beers so look out for Boquerón Blonde Ale, Crashboat IPA, El Tinglar Caribbean Style Stout and more

Pura Vida Brewery – One of the newest micro breweries in Puerto Rico, Pura Vida are the first and only all female run brewery on the island. Look out for their popular Hyggelig Amber Ale on draft. See their Facebook page for the latest beers available.
