The Festival el Tinglar (Leatherback Turtle Festival) is an annual festival held in the town of Luquillo.
This years festival will be held on May 5, 2018 in Luquillo’s town square from 10am – 10pm. The event is sponsored in part by the Sierra Club to help raise awareness and promote conservation of the area and the leatherback turtles that return to the beaches year after year to lay their eggs.
A parade from the beach front to the town square opens the days festivities with turtles being the most popular costumes on display.
The day continues with informative talks, exhibitions, as well as local food kiosks, artisans, live music and children’s activities.
This is a fun festival for all the family and a great way to learn more about the North Eastern Corridor and the Leatherback Turtles.
