Since Hurricane Maria crossed the island on September 20 2017, the Globo Aerostático in Jayuya has been closed. This weekend Nov 30 – Dec 2 the town of Jayuya will be celebrating the reopening of the Globo Aerostático
So just what is the Globo Aerostático?
Basically it is a huge Hot Air Balloon (filled with Helium) that is tethered to the ground with the capacity for up to 30 people to enjoy amazing views of Jayuya and the island.
This is a totally unique experience here in Puerto Rico and there are currently only about 20 places around the world that offer such an experience.
The Globo Aerostático in Jayuya is the highest in the world being located at an elevation of 3200 feet above sea level and when in full flight, riders will be at an elevation of around 3700ft.
Quick Facts:
- The balloon is 100ft tall by 98ft in diameter
- Filled with helium and tethered to the ground
- Base station is 3200ft above sea level
- Riders will fly about 500ft above the ground which equates to 3700ft above sea level
- Has the capacity of up to 30 people
- Flight time is around 8 – 15 minutes
For this weekends reopening there will be Christmas music, Christmas food from La Hacienda restauramt, Happy Hour (Friday Night) and activities for children

Friday Nov 30, Adults $12, Children under 13 $10 with free general admission
Sat Dec 1, Adults $12, Children under 13 $10 with $3 for general admission
Sun Dec 2, Adults $18.95, Children under 13 $14.95 with $3 for general admission
