If you are looking for a great beach in Puerto Rico then head to Luquillo Beach, known locally as Monserrate Balneario. Luquillo Beach is probably the most famous and photographed beach on the mainland with it’s long crescent shaped palm lined beach and is one of Puerto Rico’s Blue Flag beaches.
Extremely popular with locals and tourists the beach is open 9am – 5:30pm each day (except Sept – March when it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Facilities are closed and there are no lifeguards, but you can still access the beach). The waters at Luquillo Beach are calm thanks to the off shore reefs, so this is a great spot for families.
Relaxing at Luquillo Beach with the El Yunque rainforest behind you is a great way to spend a the day. If you don’t want to spend the whole day at the beach, consider heading to El Yunque in the morning, having lunch at the Luquillo road side kiosks and then hitting the beach for the afternoon.
