April sees the return of several popular events here in Puerto Rico, with the hugely popular Saborea Puerto Rico Food Festival, the Rincon Film Festival and the 1797 Battle of San Juan Re-enactment topping the bill. But watch out for some cool local festivals too.
April 4 – 7, Saborea Puerto Rico, San Juan
Saborea Puerto Rico takes over Escambron Beach for several days of great food, cooking demonstrations and more as chefs from Puerto Rico and around the world take part in the islands largest food festivals.
The main event takes place on Saturday and Sunday April 6 & 7 at Escambron Beach, but you might also want to catch the the kick off party on Thursday April 4 or the special ‘Priviledged Taste of Saborea’ on Friday April 5.

Apr 8-14, Rincon International Film Festival, Rincon
The Rincon International Film Festival returns for another year, showcasing films over several themed nights. Screenings take place at several locatiosn around Rincon:
Monday April 8 is SURFING NIGHT at Tamboo
Tuesday, April 9 is COMEDY NIGHT at La Copa Llena
Wednesday, April 10 is DOCUMENTARY NIGHT at Villa Cofresi
Thursday, April 11th is FRIGHT NIGHT at The Shipwreck Bar and Grill
Friday, April 12this PUERTO RICAN Short Documentaries Night at Rincon of the Seas
Saturday, April 13th is PUERTO RICO SHORT FILM NIGHT at The Lazy Parrot

Apr 26-28, 1797 Battle of San Juan Reenactment, Old San Juan
Re-enactors from Puerto Rico and around the world will be in full dress gear for this year’s 1797 Battle of San Juan Reenactment.
If you are in San Juan during this weekend then make sure you catch one of the demonstrations that will take place in and around El Morro Fort and Escambron Beach.
Saturday April 27 demonstrations will take place in and around El Morro Fort, Old San Juan and on Sunday April 28; Escambron Beach is the venue

Apr 13, 8th Festival de Tinglar, Luquillo
The town of Luquillo holds its annual turtle festival, featuring kids’ turtle-costume parade, music, food, and activities for the kids
Apr 14, Balseada del Rio Camuy (Raft Race), Camuy
Annual raft race that takes pkace on the River Camuy. There is also a
5K run at 10am. Live music from 11am. Raft race starts at 2pm.

Apr 21, 1st San Juan Photo Marthon, Old San Juan
Participants (any one can register) get assigned 6 topics over a period of 6 hours. Best photo for each topic wins a prize

Apr 26-28, Tomato Festival, Jayuya
The town of Jayuya holds its annual Tomato Festival at the Complejo Deportivo Filiberto Garcia (sports complex).
Tomatoes will be the star attraction along with artisans, music and food kiosks.

April 19-21, Festival del Apio (Celery), Barranquitas
The mountain town of Barranquitas holds its Celery festival at the Estacionamiento Municipal Techado.
The festival will also feature a farmers market, local artisans and more
April 19-21: Festival of Corn (Maiz), Canovanas
Annual festival featuring local artsians, music and food kiosks that will take place at the Plaza Pública Juan Francisco Arroyo in Canovanas
