Get your jazz ears ready for the twenty-sixth edition of the Puerto Rico Heineken JazzFest. This years festival runs from Thursday, March 17, 2016 through Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the Tito Puente Amphitheatre in San Juan.
The 2016 Puerto Rico Heineken JazzFest will honor composer, saxophonist and arranger of Puerto Rican descent, Ray Santos, and will have over eleven high quality artistic presentations during the 4 day festival.
Artists who will grace the Tito Puente Amphitheatre stage include: Luquillo born trumpeter Charlie Sepúlveda, Ralph Irizarry and his group Timbalaye, Argentinian guitarist Luis Salinas, Jose “Furito†RÃos, Mexican drummer Antonio Sanchez, Paquito D’Rivera, the students at Puerto Rico in Berklee and Italian singer Roberta Gambarini.
The opening night will also feature for the very first time the “JazzLabâ€, where a fusion of various musical rhythms will combine with traditional jazz.
The festival will close with a tribute to Ray Santos by the Puerto Rico Heineken JazzFest Big Band.
