If you will be here in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the weekend of April 20, you may want to check out the Battle of San Juan 1797 reenactment by the volunteers of the ‘Fixed Regiment of Puerto Rico’. I do not have complete details of the event, but I believe that it will take place around Old San Juan and probably El Morro over the weekend of April 20 – 22.
The group will be reenacting the battle between the invading British and the triumphant Puerto Rican army that took place in San Juan on April 17, 1797. Looking at the groups’ website they will be reenacting the battle as authentically as possible and so it will be a great opportunity to see how the soldiers of the time dressed and how they defended the city.
